Student Support / Office Hours

Parents and guardians, please encourage your children to make sure they promptly attend all of their Zoom classes throughout the day during remote learning. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class period and students are required to be present on Zoom. Please note: Remote learning begins Friday. We are in-person tomorrow, Thursday, December 16.

We are making this quick adjustment to our operations due to the staffing shortage we are experiencing districtwide, coupled with higher than usual staff absence rates. As of now, this move should allow us to keep all of our other school buildings open to in-person learning by repositioning some of our education support professionals. While high school teachers will still report to Mentor High School for their full workday to participate in their professional learning communities and teach their classes online, our high school support staff will be able to travel to other buildings to help where needed. This includes classroom assistants, custodians, security personnel and more. We are appreciative of our team's help stepping in where they are most needed.

We understand that quick changes to our schedule are not ideal for everyone and we are grateful for your patience and support as we try to do everything we can to provide a safe learning environment where students can grow academically, socially and emotionally.  Our other schools may continue to experience transportation delays, but we will work to cover routes to the best of our ability.

Our team will continue to interview for substitutes in most of our job classifications, including teachers, bus drivers, nutrition services, classroom assistants, custodial and we care workers to name a few of the positions we are in need of hiring.  If you or someone you know is qualified and interested in substituting for the district, please contact our HR Department at [email protected] or (440)255-4444.

Thank you again for your continued support of Mentor Schools.

Sincerely,

Bill Porter

Superintendent
