the advanced manufacturing program builds a basis of skill sets that will take students anywhere from entry-level Machining jobs all the way up to more senior level engineering technician and with additional education can promote a student to a higher managerial type of job is a process of cutting metal Parts very high Precision using a computer-controlled machine with a series of Mills Sperrys cutting tools we spent our junior year learning manual Machining and then we've built on that this year with learning how to program CNC machines as well drama students come into our program in the area to apply what we learned first using Hands-On skills on the machines and there's an actual physical object that they're creating that they can see and hold it the end goal is to have students graduate and take on full-time jobs in Machining employers that we work with are truly amazed at what the students have the offer once they graduate high school from this program my favorite part of the advanced manufacturing program is learning the skills to create various parts that are your own very Hands-On when you can really apply yourself and create something what's wrong right now in Lake County in Northeast Ohio there's a huge demand for Machinist and skilled machine trades persons the come from this class is that your student is setting themselves up for success in one of those fields just this past year we've actually Encompass a pre-apprenticeship model into our program as well so that students completing the program that's what we will be able to work with certain employers and fast-tracked through their machine apprenticeship programs I would say definitely look into it it's been very beneficial for me of course in an internship three days a week at Swagelok let's a great company to work at really enjoying it so far and I'm pretty much guaranteed a job for after high school it's a really good opportunity for any student really
