On April 24, 2018, the Visual Communications Skills USA team received the Bronze Medal in the Visual Design Competition.
Congratulations to Emma Splete & Charlotte Merat for coming in third place. Eighteen teams competed in the competition. Students created an original piece of street art with the two-dimensional specifications and explain where it might appear on the street and why. They had to write a 500 word report include a title, simulated/intended meaning of the rendering, recommended location and desired audience impact. Students present their elevator speech and then a 2-3 minute marketing plan for their product (audience, how reach audience, promotional theme, etc.) and respond to judges’ questions. Emma and Charlotte’s piece was inspired by the #ME2 movement.
The competition was hosted at the Author/Owner: ShadowboxLive® (503 S. Front St., Columbus). At the competition, students were able to meet professional mural painter Stephanie Rond (professional mural painter) as well as a tour of an operational theater company. The experience was very inspiring to all of the high school participants.
