SkillsUSA Expo on the Front Cover of the News Herald

March 22, 2019

The Programming and Software Development Program was featured on the cover of the News-Herald today discussing our student SkillsUSA Expo event that was held yesterday at the Lakeland Community College's Hive Building.  This Expo is organized by our Programing and Software Development Instructor and Mentor Teacher, Melinda O'Connor.  Mr. Glavan says, "Melinda consistently does amazing job and her commitment to her program and students is impressive.  Through integration of project based learning in her curriculum, Melinda works with local businesses to help pair them up with student groups and collaborate on solving real world problems. To say I was impressed is an understatement and this continues to be one of my favorite events!  This year, she also included showcases from our Welding program and their project working with the non-profit, the upside of downs, was extremely touching. Welding Instructor Ryan Eubank did an amazing job with helping organize their project!"
